Here is a video showing the journey from Kathmandu, Nepal to Lukla, the gateway town to the Mount Everest region. Lukla’s small airport is precariously perched on a tiny amount of flat space amidst the mountainous landscape. The single sloped runway is the only way to land and take off with extremely small margin for error. There have been numerous crashes and fatalities and is named one of the top 10 most dangerous airports in the world.
The journey to Mount Everest Base Camp (EBC) starts in earnest once you land in Lukla and it took us 9 days to reach EBC and 3 days to return to Lukla.
The music selection is “Kashmir” by Led Zeppelin, which I feel represents the atmosphere and soulfulness of the area well. We hope you enjoy the short journey through the video and it inspires your own.
